Do you find yourself struggling to achieve desired results due to unexpected issues? We can easily find ourselves in a state of constant overwhelm due to last minute surprises.
We don’t necessarily make our best decisions and get our most promising results when we are constantly firefighting. We don’t need to live our lives, nor do we have to run our businesses, being bombarded with issues that we haven’t been able to anticipate.
Although there may be many reasons for things spiraling out of control, one reason that stands out is that we attempt to manage things in a random manner. Achieving results is a function of what we think about, the behaviors that we act on, the habits that we develop, and the attitudes that we express.
Keeping the right priorities in front of us is complicated with a lot of moving parts! What if you had a reliable systematic way to manage your personal priorities and help you organize the chaos?
Using my unique simple four step ‘get things executed system’, will go a longways to minimize the number of surprises and unexpected issues that you chronically come face to face with:
Plan – Organize – Prioritize – Complete! Let’s look at each step of the process separately:
Step # 1 Plan
We start by discovering the end in mind. We diagnose which actions will best yield the desired outcomes, and we prescribe what the first few actions need to be taken to achieve the end we have in mind
Step # 2 Organize
Using the process of discernment, we crystallize the work to be done by spelling out in writing what the action steps are and determine who is best qualified to accomplish the task (s) and assign accountability to each task.
Step # 3 Prioritize
It is important to do first things first. By arranging the action steps in the proper order of completion, we establish target dates for each step to be completed. We then act and implement each action step and decide when it will be reviewed.
Step # 4 Complete
This step is critical but it is the one most often ignored or overlooked. We fail to determine how we will report on our progress. Typically, our original action plan needs to be tweaked or modified in order to achieve our desired results. Finish each step and implement and integrate the plan into your business.
Make Unexpected Issues More Predictable!
When you learn these habits and practice these behaviors you will significantly lower your number of surprises and unexpected issues and you will find that things will become more predictable.
You will move from being busy putting out fires to proactively working on the things that matter most.
